RSA Conference | Arthur Coviello, Jr.

Arthur W. Coviello, Jr.(view bio)
Executive Vice President, EMC Corporation and Executive Chairman, RSA, The Security Division of EMC
Title: Opening Address RSA Conference 2011 Europe
Abstract: To call 2011 an eventful year is an understatement.  The pace of technology innovation, including the migration to cloud oriented services, combined with the rapidly evolving threat landscape is putting enormous pressure on traditional security approaches.  Join Art Coviello to discuss new developments in our industry – and how the explosion of information, the growing complexity of IT and the increasing sophistication of attackers have triggered an ongoing battle for your network.    And what we need to do to defend against this new breed of attacks.

Thomas P. Heiser  (view bio)
President, RSA, The Security Division of EMC
Title: Lessons Learned: Surviving an Advanced Persistent Threat
Abstract: In March 2011, RSA announced that it was the subject of a very sophisticated and targeted advanced persistent threat attack.  The attack was an attempt to thwart the functionality of RSA’s widely used RSA SecurID® authentication technology.  RSA disclosed the attack publicly, and what followed in the following days, weeks and months tested the mettle of the organization.  Tom provides his insights into that period of time and will give you details of what RSA learned about this type of attack, itself and your security posture.

Hugh Thompson
Chief Security Strategist, People Security
Title: Pillars of Trust? The Science of Security Fragility
Abstract: Security is fragile because it has overlooked critical dependencies which frequently fail. One such dependency is that end users will make good security choices. Another is that the supply chain is reliable. To deal with modern attackers, the kind that will go after our dependencies, we need a new failure-tolerant model of defense. This talks takes a look at the science (and art) of security fragility. It will pull striking examples from IT, physics, weather, and business and introduce The Five Laws of Security Fragility.

Adrienne Hall (view bio)
General Manager, Trustworthy Computing, Microsoft Corporation
Title: Trust Me, I’m a Cloud Vendor
Abstract: Most significant technological advances have needed trust to succeed. It’s the same with the Cloud. Customers and partners want a provider to deliver a reliable, secure service that protects data privacy. What should you consider when evaluating vendor capabilities in the Cloud? Adrienne Hall, general manager, Trustworthy Computing, explores some of the attributes that cloud providers must demonstrate to earn trust.

RSA Conference | Sean Doherty

Sean Doherty (view bio)
Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, Enterprise Security Group, Symantec Corporation
Title: Today’s IT Attacks: Building a Security Strategy to Protect Your Assets
Abstract: Today’s targeted attacks are complicated by the actions of employees (whether malicious or well-meaning) and poorly managed systems. You need a well-structured IT security strategy to protect the infrastructure, develop and enforce IT policies and safeguard information. This session will explore the causes of data breaches, and consider what can be done to prevent the loss of critical information.

Philippe Courtot (view bio)
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Qualys, Inc.
Title: Advanced Persistent Threats - Illusion or Disillusionment?
Abstract: Data breaches aren’t a new phenomenon; what’s new is the increased complexity of IT environments coming under attack. Press about breached companies and declarations from security vendors make it seem like there’s an unprecedented barrage of very sophisticated attacks only well-armed organisations can fend off. This keynote dissects recent high-profile attacks to derive effective countermeasures.

RSA Conference | Stefano Grassi

Stefano Grassi
Vice President Security and Safety, Poste Italiane, Chairman, European Electronic Crime Task Force
Title: European Electronic Crime Task Force: State of Cyber Crime in Europe
Abstract: EECTF supports analysis and best practices against cybercrime in Europe through alliances with Law Enforcement, Academia, Legal and the Private Sector. The Task Force, initially between Poste Italiane, Polizia Postale and the US Secret Service now includes the Global Cyber Security Center, Citibank, American Express, VISA, Bulgarian Police, Romanian Police, the UN Interregional Crime Research Institute, RSA and Verizon. This session will cover survey results from its 2011 European Cybercrime Survey.

RSA Conference | Arthur Coviello, Jr.

Ambika Gadre (view bio)
Senior Director, Product Management, Cisco Systems
Title: Secure This: Every Device, Every Cloud, Every Moment
Abstract: Virtualization and cloud computing are driving massive efficiencies. But what of security? As iPad and Android devices appear in the workplace, the enterprise faces serious new threats. Ambika Gadre shows how the traditional security model fails to protect against these attacks. Learn how, in a safe and clean network environment, employees can use any device, from any location, at anytime.

Sir Tim Berners-Lee
Evolving Web Technology and Some Security Challenges Which Surround It
The talk will look back at how web technology has evolved, and how it may evolve in the future, including: web applications, the web of data, and decentralized social networks. Meanwhile, the author, not a security expert, points out a few things he would like to see the security community provide to him as a user of connected computer systems in today's world.
